An Taoiseach Simon Harris NRH Visit

On Monday 9th September, An Taoiseach Simon Harris visited the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) to officially open the Phase 1 New Hospital Development. The design of this new development is patient-centered and based on the principles of empowerment, dignity, privacy and choice. The building was completed and opened less than three years after the formal ‘Sod Turning’. The Taoiseach himself was present at that event, as the then Minister for Health.

This Phase 1 Development, which opened in June 2020 is the first purpose built rehabilitation hospital in Ireland. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the NRH could not hold an official opening at that time. The NRH Foundation feels very privileged to have provided support funding to the Phase 1 development, providing €10 million towards the build and additional funds to support the equipping of various therapy areas throughout the new development, including the equipping of a state-of-the-art gym, climbing wall, shooting range, fully accessible playground, sensory room, adolescents den, in addition to the installation of a new putting green, and much more. This was all thanks to our amazing supporters and fundraisers.

We would like to thank An Taoiseach for officially opening Phase 1 of the new NRH development and look forward to working towards Phase 2 and 3 of this Hospital Development project.
