Lough Lein Anglers’ Association Open Fly Fishing Competition “The Charity”

The 32nd Annual Open Fly Fishing Competition, “The Charity”, will be held by the Lough Lein Anglers’ Association on Sunday 28th of April 2019 at 10.30am at Lough Lein, from Ross Castle, Killarney National Park.

The Charity’s Aim is to raise €58,000 to equip 26 Bedrooms in the New National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) development with Specialised Assisted Technology Equipment.

Launching ‘the Charity’ Lough lein Anglers Association, Killarney annual charity event , at Reen Pier, Ross Castle, Killarney. Timo O’Sullivan, left, Chairman, ‘the Charity’ with Ian O’Connell, the inspirational Killarney teenager, who sustained serious injuries in a cycle accident two years ago. The NRH has also been chosen as a Beneficiary of this year’s Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle

Following his accident, Timo spent six months in the expert care of the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH), recuperating from his injuries and being rehabilitated.  This greatly helped him cope with his new life.  Speaking about his time there on a visit to  the NRH in February,  he said:

“The treatment and the expert care and lifelong friendship I received from staff at the NRH, has enabled me to  carry out every aspect of  daily life to the fullest extent.  35 years on, and  I am involved in many volunteer organisations in Killarney, beekeeping is my new passion.

How To Enter?

The new phase of the National Rehabitation Centre, Dún Laoghaire, under construction.
